Student Services

Supporting the Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School's guidance department and overall mission assisting young people to achieve their high school diplomas, CDI offers students a wealth of free, critically-needed services through its unique Student Life Center (SLC). The center is run within the school and operates from 10am to 8:30pm serving both the day and night school population. Services include:

Tutoring

Our tutored students continue to achieve higher pass rates in both regular classes and in the all-important Regents exams. Tutoring is available for all interested students.
  • Struggling students receive one-on-one help from trained volunteers in basic academic subjects as well as English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Informal homework help and test preparation are available during drop-in center hours
  • Peer tutoring is offered for students more at ease communicating with fellow classmates

  • A concerted effort is made to reach any student in academic jeopardy
  • Students receive assistance with personal, family, and cultural conflicts
  • Support groups help the school's many recent immigrants adjust to new surroundings and customs while maintaining the traditions of their countries
  • Group training workshops are offered on such subjects as budgeting and youth leadership
